Trip Report of the new Air Italy A330-200
Join me on one of the first flights on the new Air Italy Airbus A330-200 on a short flight from Rome to Milan in Economy Class.
My wish came true! I was one of the first passengers to fly on the first Airbus A330-200 for Air Italy which will commence long-haul operations in June 2018!
When I first booked this ticket a few weeks ago every flight between Milan MXP and Rome FCO was scheduled to be operated with the new aircraft for crew familiarisation. Well I can tell you now – only 10 of 75 flights were operated with the A330 – all of the others by the usual (Meridana) Boeing 737-800.
– This is why I am so HAPPY for having had the chance to experience the new product of Air Italy.

Of course I can’t say much about the actual inflight-service on the long-haul flights because on my 50 minute flight from Rome to Milan there was only one drink service – which is fine.
The cabin looked pretty modern and was in good shape. Someone told me the interior is very similar/same to the one on Qatar Airways A330 (49% stakeholder). I found the seats to be very comfortable and could imagine staying there in Economy Class for one of their long haul flights.
Initially Air Italy will launch direct flights from Milan to New York, Miami, Bangkok and later Delhi. All of these will be operated on the A330 aircraft until they take delivery of the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner’s.
Really looking forward what Air Italy will be able to deliver in the near feature together with it’s strong partner being Qatar Airways!
